It's probably not what you're expecting to hear from an automotive blog, but we assure you that it's true. Nissan, the Japanese automaker best known for models like the Titan, Sentra, and Rogue, is applying what is has learned from preventing scratches on its vehicles and applying it to consumer electronics.
Personally, we here at Curry Nissan think that this is a great idea. The specific innovation that Nissan is transferring form road to phone is the Nissan Scratch Shield, and it's currently used in models like the Murano and 370Z Roadster. Not only does it prevent scratches, but it also makes use of a self-mending technology to repair them too, should they get past the initial guard.
Now is it easy to see why this technology belongs in an iPhone case? After all, almost all Smartphone users cherish their tech toys just as much as drivers in the greater Yorktown Heights are loved their new Nissan models, and giving them a new way to protect them is sure to be a big hit. In other words, this is literally the perfect application of the technology.
"We like to think laterally by taking the great innovations we've got from an automotive point of view, and looking at how they could be applied to improve everyday issues," explains Bob Laishley, Overseas Program Director of Business Development, Nissan "The Scratch Shield iPhone case is a great example of us taking a Nissan automotive technology that has had a huge impact for our customers, and then shifting the boundaries to apply it to another everyday demand."1
